Coming Home?

Hello, all (or more likely 3 people who still attempt to read this blog)!!! I've been a bit quiet on the blog front, but have no doubt that life is rolling along here in the land of schnitzel and lederhosen. Spring has flown by and has given way to summer. Abby finishes up first grade in just 2 days. I'm slightly mortified that this chapter is about to close for my little girl. She has done so well this year and I'm so proud of her.
Four years ago (July 1, 2007) we sold out and packed up to move across the world. The days and nights since we chose to accept that call have been filled with tears of sadness, fear, joy and relief. We grieved the loss of the familiar and safe and slowly learned and embraced the new and strange. While we will, of course, always feel a slight pull to land where we came from, we've made a home here in Vienna. And that for that today I am thankful. And also because of that, I can look at pictures like this and get teary eyed. Because I have a tiny inkling as to what these photos really mean.
So we'll be headed back west in two weeks. We will be in Colorado, Oklahoma and Kansas. We're going to hug necks, kiss cheeks, sing praises, catch up, and hang out. All the while, though, we'll be feeling a little pull to cross the ocean one more time and go home.

I'm glad you are coming home for a visit. And even Matt and I feel a pull to Vienna even though we were only there for 5 weeks. It is a great place.
